PCSX2 0.9 w.i.p.

Recent work on PCSX2, a Playstation 2 emulator, has allowed Guilty Gear Isuka to not only be fully playable, but at 'reasonable' speeds. By reasonable, I am talking about 15-25 FPS (apx half real speed) in battles, and 40-50 FPS in menus (practically full speed!).

Alot of this is thanks to Gabest's remarkable DirectX9 GPU plugin, and continuing work on various aspects of PCSX2. Gabests plugin was used to produce these shots, and the video below!

To demonstrate how 'accurate' PCSX2 is getting, I have produced a video showing from character selection to a full battle.The video is faster than actual emulated speeds.

Video Format: divX 5.

great pics!!! what about the speed?? Are there many games running around 15fps instead of stupid 1fps animation????

how dare you say 1fps is stupid! have you any idea of the amount of work put in these emulators? to reach any fps without it crashing is a accomplishment alone. give these authors more credits. bah! ANYWAY!!! very very awesome progress! i can't find any problems except <i>maybe</i> vertical lines because of texture bleeding. but it's really miniscule. the word i'm looking for is...wow!

I'll do a proper encode and upload once I get ahold of the video...
EDIT: And that would be when someone decides to seed the damn thing... >_< that's why I hate bittorrent. Especially for files like this, it's not meant for.

Disgaea runs at 27-36 FPS on my system, so assuming you have a similiar spec to me, you should get those kiinds of speeds on the next release. The game is playable from start to end, as I and 2 other people have completed it through PCSX2.

So, does that also mean Final Fantasy X is running at that speed (around 27-36 or at least 15fps)? d u have any idea??

FFX is a completely different kettle of fish, to start with you're looking at a 3D game, not a 2D game like guilty gear, or a 2.3D game like disgaea.

With vuREC (broken atm) FFX will peak at 15 FPS, but with the only stable recompiler being eeREC, you get a max of 2 FPS ;) Check my sig for my machines specs, and go figure :D

Well given an AMD64 4000+ / 1GB of RAM and a Dual GeForce 6800 doesn't make it go like lightning fast with many 3D games, the easiest answer is, buy a PS2 :D :evil:

Er, DivX isn't a proper encode how? Too bad no audio, it looks wicked. :D

Personally I think bittorrent is the best way to do this. I see 14 seeds right now, just 2 peers. I'm seeding as well.

No, I mean 30 mb for 3 minutes is bad ;) And sharing on BitTorent was bad as well, as it took me a day to get the video.
And heck, I can even see artifacts in the video!

What the heck? 30 minutes for a 3 minute PCSX2 game clip!? Pph. That one of the reasons I abhor (or is it detest) BitTorrent. It's slow 90% of the time AND it fills your computer with crap viruses/spyware/adware/malware. I might as well have dial-up if I'm only going to get 5kbps download speeds.

WTF!! :p

#1: Bittorrent r0x0rs, I get stuff via azureus at anywhere from 100KB/s to 250KB/s (assuming plenty of seeds).

#2: Azureus certainly has no spyware.

#3: 30MB is not bad at all for a 640x480 3 minute recording, esp when alot of music videos are that or more for 3 minutes.

#4: @Doomulation: Takes a day to get the video, what are you on 28K modem in the middle of a desert?

It's also not a chankast video, it's from PCSX2 (PS2 emulator).
You've shrunk the video horrifically, I mean 320x240, thats LESS than PS2 res, and it's as grainy as fsck. When trying to demonstrate what the PS2 emulator is producing, not the best res, esp for noticing those nice accurate details etc ;)...might as well just of gone to gamespot and showed them a clip from there!

#5: Why use bittorrent?..because it saves this server a crap load of bandwidth:


Guilty_Gear_Isuka_[SLES_53284]_(E).avi 19seeds, 6 peers, 525 downloads, 17.482 GiB transfered, 71.72 KB/sec current transfer rate (peaked at around 390KB/s).

Now imagine thats only in a few days (2), and imagine if the server was doing that, this site would of exceeded bw limits even faster, unless ya gonna pay marty shit loads of money ;)
