iDeaS 1.0.0.8 Compatibility List

It seems that Lino has released a new version of iDeaS, and it also seems that it hasn't caught on yet...
I'm very optimistic right now cos I'm sure that there will be a substantial improvement to the last, even if the touchscreen is still not perfect. I mean just seeing that Castlevania can get a lot further now and that Polarium is doing something that is meant to be just like on the original NDS, I believe the number of games marked as Doesn't Work will hopefully go down (assuming you have used the Flash Database before.
I would recommend obtaining these bios (though I am not totally sure yet how much use they are) Cos I've been told that iDeaS does use them to a somewhat point.

Also, I will do the same thing ninja1 did with the DeSmuME 0.3.3 Compatibility List (ie keeping all the game tests in a single post), cos I think it is a brilliant idea and it would make the task of putting it into an XML very much easier.

AND if we can get at least 175 games tested by the weekend (which is about 50%) I will try and get the Flash database fully (or close to it) functional, ie with search functions AND cover images. And I'll even get started on game descriptions as well (though I'm a little disapointed no one replied to my request for game description submissions, see HERE).
Now I might sound like this is all no big job at all or anything, well it isn't really, it's just that I've got things like school work to do which cannot be left aside. But I think that if I really put the effort in I could get it all done by Sunday afternoon, I would just need a reason to put that extra effort in (hence getting half the games tested).

So if you would like me to try and get my Flash database in order ASAP or you would just like a challenge. I want to see if 50% of the games can be tested by Saturday afternoon. Can It Be Done??

All games tested will be stored here along with a list of everyone who has contributed so I can give them credit for it in the XML. I will also keep a stats details so you can get an idea as to what comaptiblity is happening...

No games yet...

Keep up the good work people!!

advance wars dual strike works better because you can now see the landscape if you are playing the game but the game wil start after the blackscreen that is probably after the first 2 mins

hmm response aint very good :(, and dont look at me this time, for sum reason, i dont wanna test most of the games if it gonna take loooonnng to start or if they start to see that they dont work a few screens later :(, like sum do on desmume,

*example*, me *cough* happily *cough*runnin sum (50 orso) roms past the emu, and hey, that game looks kinda cool, nice intro, kinda slow.... *10 mins later* woot it finished, 5 seconds later, damn chrash, bye bye hope for good game :(

*wishes luigi and mario rpg worked :p*

I've been playing around a little bit with it and I think it is worth looking at. For one, the touchscreen is very much perfectly emulated for some games (ie Polarium, i think Puyo Pop Fever too, and others) And most of the games (I've got about 60 games at the moment) that run on DeSmuME do now work on iDeaS...the only thing that separates them is the fact that most sprite rendering is still wrong and also (and I'll highlight this) there seems to be a slight transparency issue with sprites now too. An example of this is in Animaniacs, Lights, Camera, Action (E)...The character's head is transparent (I think this is because it is black).
I am in no way complaining or anything, I'm just being a helpful tester who is very impressed with the progress that is happening with iDeaS.
The firmware language is also a great addition to it too. I mean (and this may sound a little unimpressive but) I can now get Sonic Rush (U) to display English text instead of Japanese which it seemed to be doing on older versions when I tried it.

Metroid Prime Hunters - First Hunt has improved as well, for one, the controls are no longer playing up (they were locked on going left in older versions).
And some other 3D games will in fact GO INGAME, but this does not mean they are perfect and play unbelievably well of sorts. ie Asphalt Urban GT (E,U,J) you can actually see the 3D race course inscreen, but there's so much crap (sort of like a messed up tv) that you can't really see what you are doing, but the 3D is working and at a reasonable speed too I might add.
Need for Speed Underground also goes ingame, but the 3D is only a black screen, but if you watch the touchscreen (while holding the accelerator) the little markers actually move along the track so the game doesn't hand or anything, it's just missing things.
And my final bit of information is that Mario & Lugi 2 (E,U,J) appear to be a little more working than it first seems. Yes Mario and Luigi's sprites are properly showing, but they are only about 80% perfect cos when you move them about they don't always render properly. But for some strange reason, all the other sprites still don't show properly (which is a little strange). But when you get into the battle with bowser, it actually doesn't hang (or at least I don't think it does) cos you can actually now see the shadows (which are rendered in reverse).
I'll post proper tests once I get set aside a fair bit of time to properly test them, but apart from the problems with sprite rendering and touchscreen problems with some games, iDeaS is very close to DeSmuME's level of emulation and I think cos it can do 3D as well as play videos found mostly in intros and that, iDeaS is very much as impressive as it too and is still my favourite!!

Hopefully all this talk might urge a little effort towards this new version...

i'll get to testing some now... until now i had been playing Phoenix Wright... i wanted to be able to claim to be the first to actually complete a ds game on an emulator but the client crashed near the beginning of the 5th chapter (last chapter)... got a virtual memory error (the program had been taking up 99% of my system resources for the last couple days)... congratulations to ideas for running for 4 days straight until crashing, though...

ps: i'd kill for a save state option... seriously, just tell me who needs to die... *looks around eagerly*
