What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart

What Have I Done Wrong? D=

Okay so I downloaded the "Celda" retexture pack and when I opened the .rar I got a ton of folders, so, naturally I extracted those folders to C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture but when I load OoT I get the normal N64 textures. Yes I checked "Load Hires Textures If Available" and when I look at PJ64 I even see that message about "Load textures has been enabled, searching in C:\Program Files...etc." but still the same textures. Can someone explain what I did wrong?

EDIT:

Here's a picture.

You need to put those subfolders into one folder named THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, eg:

C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\Plugin\hires_texture\THE LEGEND OF ZELDA

Many thanks! Worked like a charm!

Couple of small questions though.

Can I make these textures work with my OoT Master Quest Rom? They don't work at all with that one.

Second, how do you know what to name the folder so PJ64 recognizes it?

Hi Botdra Lar'les,

Welcome to your community!

I do not know but the answer to your first question may be that you just have to name the folder for it correctly just like you did above.

The answer to your second question and help with the possible sollution to your first question can be found in this post here: http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=26442&page=31

Thanks for that neat little guide! Great post!

But how do I know the name of the actual GAME? I mean THE LEGEND OF ZELDA is not what I would have put. I would have put something like THE LEGEND OF ZELDA ORCARINA OF TIME. How do I know which name(s) work?

Thanks for the welcome ^^

Begin playing OOTMQ and "check" the box in the plugin "dump textures to files" for just a moment. Then un-check it unless you want thousands of textures to be dumped from the game and slow your game down when dumping.

Now look in your "...plugin/texture_dump" folder and you will see that the file has automatically been created with the correct name. The name you would use to create or rename the "hires_texture/game name" folder.

The only way to make the textures work for MQ, is to rename the files from "Legend of Zelda...." to "ZELDA MASTER QUEST....". Search for a program to batch rename, and od them all at the same time. I did this a long time ago, and it worked fine.

Okay confused.

I clicked it once, pressed okay, then ran in a circle. Then I paused, unclicked the box, but still no folder.

What program would that be Mollymutt?

For the record, the folder is named according to the Internal Name of the game.

If using PJ64, right click the game in the ROM browser and click ROM Information. The name you need is displayed in the top box.

I can't remember. Just google renamer. By the way, you won't get a folder in the hi res folder by clicking the load hi res box, but you will get one in the texture dump folder if you click dump textures to file.

Yeah, as Clements said, the name of the folder you make should be the same name as the ROM's internal name.

You can find the internal name even easier than Clement's suggestion. Just open up your ROM in Project64 and look right here:

I'm uploading a pack right now that some guy renamed all the "THE LEGEND OF ZELDA" files to "ZELDA MASTER QUEST"! Thats crazy! My upload isn't very quick so it'll be a while... about a half hour or so...

Edit: Here ya go! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7I3ECAKC

That should do it... i think! :)

Found another way. Go to your PJ64 Directory and look in "Saves". Just use that name works fine too. Thanks everyone.

Can you put it somewhere besides MU? I can't use it >.<

Thanks so much though!

Yeah I see you have a masterquest pack but it's federelli's. I'm pretty sure Botdra Lar'les wants the Djipi's masterquest pack. Djipi's original pack should work with some versions of the masterquest rom but doesn't work for all so thats why Shadow Fire renamed all 6,278 files to work with the masterquest rom. This pack will only work for the rom version with the "ZELDA MASTER QUEST" header.

So with a lot of nonsense said... here you go :)
