unresponsive mouse

need some advice

PR64 will load any ROM succesfully, but soon after the screen is totally unresponsive to the mouse; this includes the emulator window and anything in the background. The mouse moves around the screen but does not respond to clicks at all. The controller is responding normally. Any suggestions?

You could try reinstalling the emulator.

it isnt supposed to unless you have it configured as a controller. that is unless you mean u cant even use the menu bar (file, edit, view, etc) in that case you might have a problem. if you just mean you cant play the game with it, then there is no problem because that is the way it is supposed to be.
