I upgraded from a PC with a 700Mhz P3 a while back so i decided to try PJ64 again but i was suprised that it was so choppy when i disable the frame rate limiter i get 200-300 FPS depending on the game but with the frame rate limiter on performence drops and it gets choppy .

Here are my specs (its a G-Force 6200)

Im using the default video plugin And PJ64 has plenty of ram ive even tried killing explorer . Im using the 76.something drivers but ive tried it on the latest 90x drivers.

I dont get it i managed to use PJ64 with OOT on my old 700mhz celeron and 128mb ram pc . Why is it so slow now when i can get 300fps without the speed limiter

The Recomended System requirements are

Code:
Intel Pentium 3 1.2Ghz or higher or AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz or higher
256MB RAM or more
nVidia GeForce3 or later or ATI Radeon or later
1GB or more free hard drive space
Creative Soundblaster Live! or higher
Wishtech Adaptoid and original Nintendo N64 controller for each player
Microsoft Windows 2000/XP

Ive overclocked my processor to 3.38 GHz but i still cant get decent speed wth the limiter on . Strange because on my old pc i remember playing oot at full speed ???

its your video card actually.

im sorry to say this.. but the 6200 chips are crap.. especially turbo cache models.

and before i get flamed here.

YES, i have been in an environment with a 6200, in an HP based system that a friend had me put a few games on his machine......

thats all im gunna say there... but anywya.... the performance was POOR, even though his cpu is faster then mine,.. PJ64. just was to much for the 6200.... its probably the low clocks + low amount of pipes.... safe to say.. i saw the same problems on the 5200.... cards higher then that are usually fine though... which is strange.

My 5200 performs very well on PJ64, I only have probs with a few games, and on ones with high cpu requirements. There are a few I would like to play that the 5200 doesn't seem to do good on, but for the most part it puts out 60fps, which is fine for playing games.

yes well. there are cases where it works,.. but also,. is that a 5200 ultra or just a normal 5200?... both have different clock speeds.

all i know is i tried running pj64 on my friends machine and it was like running Halo 1 at 1600x1200 on a 5900xt (very inconsistant framerates)

btw, there is no way that its outputting 30fps when the majority of games don't run at that,.. the majority are hardcoded for between 22-30 fps, which can be seen by running fraps, the counter you see at the bottom of a window, is not the fps (frames per second)

but...errr.. fields per second i believe?... 2 different things
