Reversing the N64->PC controller process

All the time I see ads for adapters that can convert an N64 controller for use in a USB port. I was just curious if anything has been made that can do the opposite. (Adapt a PC controller for use on an N64.) I know I'd play my 64 a lot more often if I had a controller with a good analog stick in it. So has anyone done this? Is it even possible?

You'd need drivers, wouldn't you? It's not just a matter of getting the plug right, the hardware needs to be able to communicate with the controller properly. I'm sure you could mod a N64 controller though

Yeah, I kinda suspected something like that, especially with USB controllers (wasn't sure about regular joystick port ones). Guess I'll have to read up on the internals of the N64's analog stick. Thanks for the info.

The other option would be to use the circuit board for the N64 controller and wire up a new analog stick to it. Be complicated to get things to fit how you want them but the wiring wouldn't be too difficult.
