Reversing the N64->PC controller process

All the time I see ads for adapters that can convert an N64 controller for use in a USB port. I was just curious if anything has been made that can do the opposite. (Adapt a PC controller for use on an N64.) I know I'd play my 64 a lot more often if I had a controller with a good analog stick in it. So has anyone done this? Is it even possible?

You'd need drivers, wouldn't you? It's not just a matter of getting the plug right, the hardware needs to be able to communicate with the controller properly. I'm sure you could mod a N64 controller though :p

Yeah, I kinda suspected something like that, especially with USB controllers (wasn't sure about regular joystick port ones). Guess I'll have to read up on the internals of the N64's analog stick. :p Thanks for the info.

The other option would be to use the circuit board for the N64 controller and wire up a new analog stick to it. Be complicated to get things to fit how you want them but the wiring wouldn't be too difficult.
