reinstalled windows now get an error--HELP

I just recently had to reinstall Windows(surprise) and when I start Project64 I get this error:

Direct3D failed to intialize
Error Code: 8876086C
D3DERR_INVALIDCALL

It also states:

the default or selected video plugin is invalid or missing.

I have altere nothing, replaced none of the defaults and even uninstalled and download a new setup package and reinstalled (10 times). I just have no clue.

I have a 5 year old who just can't leave me alone about MARIO64 so I need help to get this working. Please Help!!!!

It worked just fine before the reinstall of Windows.

thanks alot Smiff. You have save my sanity. It turned out my card didn't like the color and had to switch to 16bit

82810 Intel onboard. I think it is 8mb believe it or not, but it works.

Podria to be that
1. - do not have installed the driver of obvious video qu is the response mas silly but that there is to see jej
2.-project64 needs minimum of 16 gentle ones of video if not it does not work I say it for esperiencia
3. - it(he,she) changes card of video sincerely neither the intel nor the sis work for my to seem in questions of performance(yield) I hope that it(he,she) serves my help
