Want to Change MK64 Balance

I am very interessted into Changing my MK64 Rom.
I want things like to remove the Star from Battle-Mod, or to make it Green powerups only mod.
Is this possible ? if yes - How / Can someone Help me ?
I am Allready able to open the Rom with an Assembler , but i have no clue how to edit the code, or what each value stands for
Another thing would be that i would love some new Maps for GP and Battle.
Is it possible to make new maps / edit existing ones ?
Please help I am a big MK64 fan. Dont like any new parts on any new console (exept the DS - its ok )
