More site updates

I hope you enjoy me keeping you updated about what's happening at the site as much as I enjoy improving the site. :)

Anyway, first of all, I've fixed a major pain-in-the-a*se bug that's been present since we started using the new design. It screwed up the "who is online" list at EmuTalk and if you visited Emu64 before EmuTalk you wouldn't see all new posts since your last visit. Anyhow, that's been fixed. :)

With this fixed, I was able to create a login box on the top right. If you are already an EmuTalk member, you can login there with your username and password. Once logged in, you will see new posts, threads and private messages at EmuTalk since your last visit. Emulation64 uses the EmuTalk database as user database, and it's quite nifty. :p

Another thing I would like to bring to your attention is Emulation64 Lite, which is a news-only version of the site, and could be useful if you're on a slow connection and are just looking for the latest news. Thanks for the tip, Azimer.

I might create a third version of the site, which offers all the features that you're seing at Emulation64, but with a layout that's easier on your connection. Another tip came from SJR, which is to use either Phoenix or Opera as opposed to Internet Explorer, appearantly due to IE's slow layout engine. Update: I've just tried Phoenix and the difference is HUGE. *slaps IE*

Comments? Ideas? We'd love to hear from you. :)

Actually Phoenix is amazingly fast, and it doesn't have some of the table problems that Mozilla has with this message board. I may use it as my perm browser :)

Same here, I love it so far. I just don't know if my internet bank works with it, I'll have to check. :)

It a much better product then ie, in it's current state it's far from finished and still it has everything I need, and almost everything I want... Can you imagine I was only a mouse click away from missing one of the better products I have seen in a long time... The difference in loading times is enormous on 56k... I:D

Dunno, if this was already reported somewhere else but if I login to the main site I get a pretty screwed up layout + a PHP-Error.

Which style are you using, Nezzar? I'll have a look at this later and will try to fix it.

I downloaded Mozilla the other day - wasn't at all impressed with it. For me it is actually slower to load pages than IE - which isn't what I expected at all. Scrolling using my middle mouse button doesn't work either (though I suspect there is an option to adjust that somewhere).

Will download Phoenix later - I've heard it's much better from so many people.

It seems to work fine now. (haven't changed anything in my browser, though)
But there's another layout error (yeah, I know it's only minor)
