Little help with the psx/n64 usb adapter

i just bought the n64/psx usb adapter thats advertised at the top of this board. my psx dual shock works fine and the adapter installed fine. but there was no documentation with it so i dont know what the switch is for (that changes the LED from red to green). i assumed it was to switch between the controller types. but my n64 controller is either unrecognized or does not calibrate properly in project 64. im using all of the plugins that came with the last release of the emu. also the controller isnt showing up in my control panel in xp. but like i said the psx controller works fine. so is the controller bad, the plugin bad or does it have something to do with that switch on the adapter? i tried rebooting in both modes but it still didnt work. hope this is enough info.

I think it works only with one Gamepad attached to it at a time (so try, unplugging the PSX pad and then attach the N64 pad).

You can have both pads plugged-in at the same time; the switch alternates between them. If your N64 pad isn't recognized (assuming the switch is in the proper position), then either the adapter is broken or it's just not going to cooperate with your particular pad. The Boom adapters are a bit sketchy. I've seen perfectly good N64 pads rejected, though they work just fine with the console.

By the way, if you have two pads connected to one adapter, Windows will only show one controller under gaming options.

okay, messed around with it some more. i went into my system properties and the "usb device" had an exclamation point next to it. so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it recognized the controller (btw, i only had one controller in at a time). but then when i would go to calibrate the controller it would input whatever the heck it wanted to without me pressing any buttons. so im wondering if the controller is broken (i bought it used form funcoland). and every so often the usb adapter gets the exclamation point next to it and i have to reinstall it. weird.

Not broken per se; it would probably work fine with the console. Like I said though, the Boom adapters are tempermental at best.

i noticed too that i could map all the buttons on the psx controller (when using epsxe) exceapt for the right analog. weird. i guess i should probably just get an adaptoid? but they're so much more expensive

btw thanks again for the help so far.
