I need your help guys, I'm in the middle of the uni finals and I'm not in the mood for re-formating and installing windows again from scratch. I somehow got a Trojan. Dunno why, I haven't installed any new programs nor cracks. I scanned my PC with NOD32 without results. I tried with Hikackthis, to see if there anything suspicious, but I found nothing. The thing just keep opening IE like every 5 mins to open ads stuff. So I'll leave you a copy of the Hijackthis log for you guys. Please help me!

Are you sure it is a Trojan and not just some stupid adware? There are websites that install this illegally without your knowledge. It may even be fairly new.

Free Download Manager it is a freeware download manager I have used for years. Trojan, adware, or whatever it is, I want to get rid of it :(

He looks to already be using Spybot Search & Destroy from the log (including running the real-time protection services hehe) Nothing there looks terribly out of the ordinary from what I can tell. Have you tried Rootkit Revealer? I got to clean up a PC at work hit by an adware thing a long time ago that showed up under that because it was hiding itself by hooking into the OS rootkit style

As smcd said I used S&D however id didn't work. And I don't use IE, the thing suddenly runs IE to show ads. As smcd suggested it was a rootkit, but I get rid out of it myself. However I'll check Rootkit Revealer, it will be a good idea to keep it for the future. I never had rootkit problems myself before. Thanks for the help guys! =)

Congrats t0rek :) Adware/spyware/crapware is getting smarter :( the link for Rootkit Revealer is http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897445.aspx if you haven't already looked it up. It isn't guaranteed to find stuff but it's free and never hurts to check!

Another possible solution if you have a similar situation in the future might be to use Bart PE and make a bootable Windows CD with antivirus and stuff to scan all files on your drive. http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

Note that you CAN get trojans without doing anything. I have experienced getting crap on a freshly formatted HDD, right after i installed the lan driver. RIGHT after, i tell ye. Off the original cd. It is crazy sometimes...

Why would anyone want to use their programming knowledge to make a trojan maker? Yep, this age is full of idiots...

Anyways, glad you got that problem resolved! I've had similar before and had a hard time getting rid of it. Real pain in the butt. >_<

Note that you CAN get trojans without doing anything.

Yeah, that is pretty weird too. It is like they personally put it on your PC. Aw, they like us THAT much. XD

I had one from 3DS Max 9. Installed WinSpywareProtect on my laptop and cut off my network connections. Very nasty, but got it solved.
