Hlp i cant get project 64 t work

I just downloaded project 64 and everytime i open it it says Direct3D failed to intialize your HAL device make sure you have a properly configured graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0. Plz hlp im dying to play n64 i havent played this in a long time.
