Help with plugins

I've downloaded a couple different plugins but I can't seem to get them to work. I unpacked Rice's plugin and placed it in the plugin folder, when I started PJ64 and opened the settings menu it didn't show up. I downloaded the new Glide64 'Napalm' wrapper and plugin and same thing, only this time an error message popped up stating the Glide64.dll file couldn't be found even though it was in the plugin folder. How do I get the plugins to show up in the dropdown menu in the settings screen? I really need to find a plugin that works for the games I want to play.

Plugins should show up by simply putting the file(s) in the Plugin folder (provided that you haven't changed the default path for plugins, that is).

Is your DirectX up to date, as well as graphics card drivers?

yes everything is up to date, I unpacked 'napalm' directly into the PJ64 folder, then placed the plugin into the plugin folder. There was also a Wrapper folder but I left that in the PJ64 folder as per the instructions. I unpacked the rice plugin to the desktop then moved it to the PJ64 folder. They just won't show up when I start PJ64 and click on settings. Should it show up right away or do I need to restart the computer? Do I need to delete the default plugins first?

Keep in mind I have only had PJ64 for about 4 days, and have no experience with plugins or programming. I was really hoping there would be some sort of FAQ for plugins. If there is that would help alot.

There really isn't a need for a FAQ per se. All you need to do is to put the plugins in the Plugin folder.

Glide64 is different in this matter because Glide64 was designed for Glide cards primarily (just so you know, no video card other than the old Voodoo line support Glide as is). The wrapper needs to be put in either the emulator folder directly or in Windows/System32.

I got the Glide64 to work. The problem was the wrapper folder, I didn't realize that you had to copy the contents and paste it in the emulator folder. The instructions were vague where I got it (Glide64 forums) Unfortunatly Glide64 is actually worse than the default plugin for Vigilante 8. Hopefully one of the others will work. Thanks for the help.
