I don't like titles
It does work for me and I am using all of the default settings. I really doubt it is your video card, but I might be wrong. Still your system specs would probably help :saint:

The only plugin that makes the text readable in Mario(E) is the official Deadalus Plugin

Super Mario is emulated excellent in almost all the emulators. It will work excellent with ultrahle alpha 1.1.7 (enable fog in the config) for almost all the computers.

Mightyrocket, this is true for the (U) version.
In the european version of the game, the text is unreadable with every graphic plugin (including the X engine from uhle2064, I haven't been able to launch uhle alpha in XP), except with the plugin I mentionned above. With all other, it's messed up (in some kind of diffenrent way with every plugin. The only constant thing is the fact that it's broken).
