Very interesting, as I am an embedded systems programmer the volatile keyword is very important to for handling hardware registers etc. that are memory mapped.
I now have to check volatile types for the compiler I use damn it! GRRR.
Sigh nothing is so simple (mutter) that it can't be screwed up.
