Java DOES work with Opera.

Heck, if Opera ever fixes that annoying thing where clicking the scroll wheel/middle mouse-button automatically moves your cursor to the center, I might actually use it instead of Firefox.

What is an adblock plugin?

It's strikingly similar to Opera's Content Blocker. It's very effective, and when coupled with a auto-updating filterset such as FilterSet.G, it blocks every unwated popup you can think of. Fully customizable blacklists and whitelists etc.

Separate applications such as Ad Muncher can block ads in most browsers. Unfortunately, it is not freeware.
