Failure when opening ROM

Whenever I open any ROM file I get an error message saying "Direct3D Device creation failed!" I'm running an Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo with Vista x64 installed. I have an NVIDIA 8600GTM graphics chipset but do not have the extended NVIDIA drivers due to $%@# 64 bit compatibility... I do have the latest Beta 3 version.

EDIT:
Figures. I did try switching to REF mode, but I still get that error. I'm going to look again for card drivers. If anyone knows where to get drivers for the GeForce 8600GTM that play nice with Vista x64, I'd love to hear about it.

2ND EDIT:
Ah, I believe I have fixed the problem. It was the lack of proper video drivers. Sorry to have bothered you guys...

Yes, the lack of proper graphics drivers or their corruption leads to error messages like that. Usually the chip's manufacturer (in this case Nvidia) provides you with all the downloads you might ever need.
