I have a mobo which supports DDR266 (Asus A7V266-C with VIA KT266A).
can i get a ddr400 stick and use it on it?
wont it just run at DDR266 (133mhz x 2) but with better timings taken from the SPD??
Or will it not boot at all?
from a specteck's pdf>
ddr266 & ddr333
VDD = +2.5V ±0.2V, VDDQ = +2.5V ±0.2V (For –6A & -75A)
ddr400
VDD = +2.6V ±0.1V, VDDQ = +2.6V ±0.1V (For -5B)
maybe the VDD, is a problem......
my mobo supports ram's modules @ VDD = +2.5V ±0.2V, ??? (i guess yes)
but ddr400 (5ns) is VDD = +2.6V ±0.1V,...
so, this ±0.1V... = 2.6v - 0.1v = 2.5v...(i'll getting the appropiate voltage...)
second alternative is:
with ddr333, it might work, no? (theorically it should work just fine?)
PS: someone has a similar issue, with bad results:
