i've been playing alot of california speed lately, and i have 2 say, it is great fun in 1964. there are a few wierd glitches though, such as the tires/bottom of the car suddenly popping up very large in the middle of the screen, towards the top. this is ineffectual though for overall gameplay.
the wierdness however, is that sometimes levels will start you with only 22 seconds on the clock. trust me when i say it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach ANY of the first checkpoints with just 22 secs on the clock. a couple <start> restart <a>'s later though, and you can get the full 72 on the clock and the levels play well. remarkably well, one might say.
just wondered if anyone noticed these, or if my ini settings were wrong....
