when i open a rom it says controller no plugged in

i am new to the whole n64 roms thing and i have edited the controller configuration so i can use the keyboard but it still says "no controller" so i need help on what i should do about this

ok this is exactly what its doing to me: when i load a rom it says "no controller" i have tried all the plug-ins and neither of them work i want to make it where i can use the keyboard keys for the buttons and it actually work how do i fix this

ok i set up the keys for the keyboard using the n-rage plug-in but it still says its not connected

Is the Player one controller marked as 'Plugged'? Make sure you press save after doing modifications tothe N-Rage plugin.
