One of the few emulation news sites from the "old school" days that's still around and still popular, <a href="http://vg-network.com">Vintage Gaming Network</a> (some of you remember it as Dave's Video Game Classics) is back on a new host and with a new design, and with a fully database driven site. Here's some words from Dave:

<font class=post_quote>As the site approaches it's 8th bday, I have decided to make some major changes to this site:

* New Host
* New Design
* Site is now 100% database driven, as it has obviously become impossible to maintain by hand.</font>

Looking great, keep up the good work buddy! Check out the site by clicking <a href="http://www.vg-network.com">here</a>. :)

Also has to say it looked better before but I guess they can do a couple of things with the current design to make it look more alive, good to se that it's up though.. A lot of pages that just hide in favorites forever... :D

Eeeh.....I used to be a big fan of the site...dating as far back as 1997. Then, in 2002, things fell apart (particularly concerning the forums, revolving around two fscking sickening users that Dave refused to kick off because they "generated hits"), and I left. Haven't really been back since then. I don't know if it's worth it anymore.

One idea I really like is that registered users see less ads? perhaps this is a way to encourage new users which is good?

I used to visit that site alot too but lately I've started to not like it as much. That classof316 or whatever his name is really ruined the site for me (I wont mention why though). Not only that I remeber seeing them copy news posts from retrogames word for word with out saying where they got the news source from. I dunno they used to be great when they were daves classics but now there just meh.

Yeah. A lot of the more popular members (some coming from as far back as the first forums) left the forum because of the whole class316 situation.
It looks like Dave's starting over again with the forums. But it doesn't matter. I literally stopped being a forum person a while ago.

UUuhhh....take a look at the HTML source on http://www.vg-network.com :

You'll see some code, some of which contains the following:
AUTO_PROMPT AD START
script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript"
src="http://www.NetpalOffers.net/NetpalOffers/DM0/confirm39m.js"

I don't doubt that it's probably a great resource, but it's unfortuante that these sites have to take dumps on our computers. I recommend you run SpyBot or Ad-Aware after visiting this site.
