Smash Bros Joystick Issue

Hey everyone, brand new here. Sorry if this is in the wrong location, but this forum looked most appropriate.

In smash bros, I can not get any of the characters to run, jump (using joystick) or do any 'smashes'

I assume it has to do with my controller settings, but they seem alright. I am using a genuine n64 controller with a converter.

I have tried ranges from 0 (hardly move) to 63 (n64) to 100 (even here the characters dont run)

Also have tried moving deadzone from 25 to 0, still cant get them to run.

HELP! Have put a lot of hours into trying to fix this, read all the FAQs etc, and can't find a fix. Thanks so much.

What controller plugin are you using? What kind of a converter are you using? Have you calibrated your controller in the Gamepad settings portion of Window's control panel?

Jabo's controller plugin / converter is not an adaptoid, but is a generic one - The N64/PSX USB Adapter

I have not calibrated my gamepad in control panel, although I will try that now. Hadnt heard of that.

Thanks, will be back with updates.

Usually if you are having an issue with a controller, you'll want to try calibrating it in the gamepads section of Control Panel. Not ALL controllers require this method, but it's a good start. Also, did your controller adapter come with drivers? If so, you're going to want to install those and restart the system just to make sure they take.

If you're still having problems after you try calibration, you might want to experiment around with a different plugin. I think I read in other parts of the forum that the N64 controller (even a real one) doesn't read 100% on a Windows computer through adapters... Not sure where I read that, but I am sure I read it.
