Shadowgate 64: low fps during intro

Hi!

I got a problem with the emulation of Shadowgate 64. I can play the game just fine. But the Intro- Video runs with a framerate of 10-15 fps and the sound laggs (after the skeletons in the beginning; runs with 50 fps). I've tried many different video plugins and Emulators.
Does anyone know how i can view the Intro ?

I'll check this out for you, but it seems likely to me that the game is using a buffer effect that your plugin isn't set to fully emulate.

Alright, so it MIGHT be an effect, but after running this game myself, I am not so sure.

The slowdown starts up when it starts to fade a sprite animation in of a few characters in a wagon or something like that. The actual fading is probably what is causing the slowdown, but I am not so sure how the game accomplishes the fade in.

Ehh... There are two ways to fix this slowdown on the intro (and the rest videos).

The first way is to use Rice's video plugin. While running the game go to the configuration of the graphics plugin, uncheck the "hide advanced options" option and enable the "Faster loading tiles" option from the "Current game options" tab. Be aware that this will lead to messed graphics on some cases. (they can be fixed if you try a specific configuration with Rice's plugin, unfortunately i don't remember the "right" options...)

The second way is to have a voodoo video card and use Glide64 as video plugin. If you don't have a voodoo card and you use Glide64 with a glide wrapper then the intro will be too slow.

I suppose that works, but I'm sure one of us on here could get it working in the emu.

Better add this game to my test list; sounds difficult to configure.
Ha ha. I'm glad someone is doing this, actually. I know I'd probably lose patience with it pretty quickly, myself. =/
