New To Project 64

I have just recently started using PJ64 and on the whole I am very impressed. However I have been having the occasional problems with a couple of games, Wipeout 64 and Goldeneye. The problems are a lot worse with goldeneye, the game is just very jerky with both audio and graphics and sometimes totally freezes, basically it is not worth bothering with. Wipeout only does this once in a while. My system is an AMD Duron 1200mHz, 512 MB DDR Ram, 32 MB Geforce 2 MX 400, and On board audio (not sure how good this is, although it is a fairly recent motherboard). I am awaiting delivery of Geforce 4 MX 440 64MB DDR card so hopefully this might help a little. I am running PJ64 v1.5. Is there anything I can do that will help prevent this? Or is my system not really up to it?

Yeah... Goldeneye is tough... actually I use the 1.3 gfx plugin and get good speed and this cool "clouds" efect" which is absent on the more recent plugins... just remember that on your actual N64 the speed is not 100%.

Goldeneye running slow on pj is a known issue. It is actually recommended to use 1964 to run that game.

Unfortunately, it is common knowledge that N64 games developed by Rareware do not run at very good speeds with Jabo's Graphics Plugin, no matter what your specs are. I recommend using the unofficial Daedalus D3D Plugin. You can steal it from 1964 and use it with PJ64 and Rareware games will work great. I don't know about Waverace.

this question has been lingering in my mind for a while

does pj64 or any n64 emu needs :

1. Graphic card
2. Sound card
3. Processor speed
4. misc

i know it sounds stupid to ask something like this, but i need to know, since i am new to the emulator.

any idea how to get smooth running of Ogre Battle 64.

my spec Pentium 4 1.5GHz, Geforce2 400MX, intergrated sound card, 512 ram. games like Mario Party 3 after a while playing will sometime get (probably most of the time) some sort of graphical error, i.e. steps on the ground turns to blocky graphical error, if u know what i mean.

how to prevent this, and anyway to increase the speed of the game?? just don't want it to get to jerky.

Well, you can yank the sound card but you wont have sound without it. Kinda hard to run the emu if you yank the cpu, vid card, memory, or anything else related to the functionallity of the computer.

P.S. I think he ment what speed/type... but thats in the manual, faq, readme....

Alucardia : Graphic messed up on Mario Party 3 might caused by ur nvidia driver :), r u using nvidia driver 40...? try to roll back to driver ver 30.82, that should fix the graphical prob on Mario Party 3 :p

The game isn't fully supported in pj. However, there are quite some posts about this which may help you. Try using the search function on the board.
