it seems like its been a long time since we've had a pj64 update. I guess everyone says we don't need a pj64 update, but just a graphics plugin update. So when are we gonna get that?

No, what you are reaching for is not going to happen... The orignal authors, Zilmar and Jabo has discontinnued the project hence the lack of updates...

Since the subject came up and I am a little curious, I have a question. And please note when answering this question that I do understand it's Jabo's and he can do what he wants. I am simply wondering about this and could not locate an answer.

So with that said, Did Jabo ever mention one way or another as to why he decided not to release his source for his gfx plugin?

I could only imagine how helpful it would be for other authors who are making a gfx plugin. Or even the thought of one of them continuing Jabo's work. Just a nice thought is all. :)

Jabo once told me that he put a lot of work into reversing the ucodes and he felt that he should not just give that hard work away. These aren't his exact words, the general drift of them.

If he was to pick the project up again, I have a feeling some changes to the core might be needed. (I could be 99.9% wrong on that of course lol )

Maybe there are people working on PJ64 1.6 in silence.... But there is hope: Hotquik is working on a new PJ64 (project64k), with as general goal kaillera-support, but maybe in the future more than only that...

And maybe if Jabo sees that other plugins are beating his one, he *might* continue his plugin.

I have a feeling you are right, so we all know what that means for those GFX plugin authors out there, work hard maybe if you work good enough, maybe Jabo might return.
We all miss Jabo. I should check out Jabosoft.com someday again, and see if there is stuff there

It is sad to see Project64 stop, as it was nearly the ZSnes of Nintendo 64 emulators, but there are other emulators out there, and they will overtake eventually.

I'm surprised that Project64 has reached the level its at much faster than the other emus, with plugins still not truely better than Jabo's Sound and Video, but now its discontinued, and the 1.4 source is freely available, I can't see why it won't be beaten by all the 'still active' emulators within 1-2 years. 1964 only needs a few changes and it will be better I feel, and others such as Mupen64 and TR64 are not far behind either.

Jabo is still working on JNes, my favourite NES emulator, so I'm happy :)
