I press F5 to save, right, and when I try to load it, it says unable to load save state ect...

What up with that?

P.S: If it helps, it's LOZ OOT that I've tried it on

Load the state by pressing Ctrl+L and choose the file from the list. F7 sometimes fails.

Also, don't rely on savestates too much, use native saves instead.

Native saving means to save with the game's own saving feature -- just as you would save your game when you are playing on the actual console. Either going to a save point/menu/whatever and selecting save or doing whatever needs to be done to save one's progress in the game.

In other words, this is the "native" way to save your progress. Savestates weren't a feature in the original game/console, so they aren't "native".

and i would recommend(if you're using N-Rage's input plugin) going into "input settings" then go to mempak(or something similar) and un-check "raw data" if it is checked. I do this because if you have it checked, your memory pak will run out of data wheres if you let the emulator handle the native saves, then you will not run out of memory on your "virtual card" because the emulator creates a seperate memory pak for each rom and therefore: letting you play any game without memory issues.

After dwelling on it last night, it dawned on me what native saving was. Now my question is, How do I native save on my computer? I don't have a gamepad (so I don't think that the N-Rage plugin will help, but I may be mistaken) , so all I use is my keyboard. I'm using Project64 and I am playing Majora's Mask.

Play Song of Time or hit an owl statue with your sword. Otherwise, read the FAQ on GameFAQs.com for game-specific help.
