:( someone please help me. it loads fine, but right about when i get to the press start screen, an error message pops up that says Access Violation:
While processing graphics data an exception occured you may need to restart the emulator. i mean i can hit okay and it will keep going, but then it keeps popping up like every 2 seconds. and i restarted the emulator, but it still doesnt work. i even tried re-downloading the rom and trying but the same thing happened. i have the rom for goldeneye and that works fine. can someone please help me? :(

disable all the cheats, and reload from a native save.

i've found that the carrot cheat on the newer versions causes problems.

i never used any cheats, i think its because my video card isnt good at all. its still the card that came with the computer when i bought it. everything else like the ram etc is up to date and meets the specs though, so the video card must be my problem. any suggestions for a good video card that will solve my problem ranging from $0-$150? and its a new computer i got it in december so it probably has agp and pci slots.

depends on where you are in the world.

0-150 can be a limiting factor in some places (like australia, you wouldn't even get a 6600gt for that) but you would in the US,

Any 64-128mb graphic card will do fine. Not onboard graphics card's though. They are known to be troublesome....

my GeForce 6100 is pretty good for PJ64 i think (integrated into nForce430)
so we cant really say onboard is always bad any more hmmm :)

ATIs and nVIDIAs integrated graphics are the best out there.

Well, ATI and nVidia integrated are "decent." So I'd still say that onboard is bad. It's not crap, but not good either...

Anyhow, for nVidia's cards, GF6+ is a good card, and you should be able to find some cheaply. That's a good advice I can give you without giving out price tags.

Doomulation, this is the Project64 forum. you don't need an "eVGA GeForce 7800GT (Core: 470 / Memory: 1100) " to run an N64 emulator.. unless Jabo does something really amazing(ly bad) i can't imagine.

edit: can't you just feeel the jealousy in this post lol.
serious point though: stop saying "integrated is $*^*%^" and even stop saying its bad per se, because the ATI and nVidia chipsets would meet our recommended requirements afaik (will double check with Jabo later)

I hear you. Personally, I think all integrated is bad idea (gfx that is), but the nVidia and ATI chips are good enough for emulation. All other though, I'd be skeptic about. Unless you do verify they run Pj as it should.

Geforce Go and ATI Mobility are the only exceptions to the rule, as these are fully fledged portable 3d graphics chips and not just for moving your work around wth you.

Not every integrated card sux, with my one I can play Project64 (and others, Chankast to name one) fine, without any glitches or slowdowns (cross-tested with a GF FX 5600). So no every integrated card sucks, but most of them do.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that it's not an ATI nor NVidia.

Being able to play games with Project64 with them does not mean that they do not suck.

I know it kind of sucks (I work as a graphical programmer myself, so I'm quite fond of the details of were and how it sucks) but it does acomplish what the emulator demands, that is what we're talking about.

so... what would be my best choice for a graphics card at a price of about $100 dollars tht would let me play any game on PJ64?

i found a Xtasy Radeon 9250 128MB DDR PCI for a good price, think that would work nicely for my little problem?

that would be just about ok for pj64 i think, but it's quite dated, RV280 core, PixelShaders v1.4. you can probably get something better (PixelShader v2) for the price.. what motherboard - PCI or PCIe or AGP?
