Full Screen on Wide Screen?

I have a wide screen monitor. No matter what resolution I choose, the picture is stretched out to fill the entire screen.

How do I do full screen and keep the normal aspect ratio? I want there to be black bars on the sides and the normal 4x3 screen.

For NVIDIA with the Classic Control Panel, there are various scaling options in nView Display settings, then click on Device Settings, Device Adjustments.

ok, I'm not in DVI, and what I am looking for is as simple as a "never stretch over a good video ratio" or something like that, because the idea to adjust the ratio everytime I am launching a program looks very boring

Just an idea : If I connect my display to the DVI port, Using an adapter, maybe the nvidia controll pannel will recognize it as a dvi display, and allow me to access to others specific settings...

no, its gotta be a digital display, as the scaling is done digitally. (probably why its called Digital Scaling :|)
