Gameshark v.2.1 for N64 system??

First if this is the wrong area for this post, I apologize. I just wanted to make sure that peeps into N64 see this question cause I am lost.

I just bought my son a GS with v.2.1 on it. Without the GS connected all these games work properly. The only codes entered right now are only for the games that work. I decided to delete the other games since I bought this second hand and don't have all those titles. This problem I am having was before and after deleting all the titles (I had hoped it would help, lol)

We have 6 of his games that appear to work fine with it (the GS screen comes up when the cart is inserted or cheats really work).

WORKING GAMES

Goldeneye (tested cheats working)
Star Wars SOTE (tested cheats working)
Elmo's Number Journey (tested GS menu shows)
Pokeman Stadium (tested GS menu shows)
Robotron 64 (tested GS menu shows)
Mario Party 2 (tested GS menu shows)

We have 7 other games that show "8." on the GS display, scroll through some funky characters on the GS display, or do nothing at all. All of these carts never let it get to the main GS menu screen.

NON WORKING GAMES

Banjo-Tooie (funky characters scroll on GS display)
Pokeman Snap (nothing)
Perfect Dark (does nothing)
Kirby 64 (nothing)
Donkey Kong 64 (funky characters scroll on GS display)
Super Smash Bros. (funky characters scroll on GS display)
Diddy Kong Racing (just shows "8." on the GS display0

Is this normal?

Is there something that I need to do to the GS or have done to it?

Where could I find a manual and/or troubleshooting instruction online for this GS?

Any help or insight would be great.

Yea you need to use Keycodes specfic to those Games for it to load the cart through the GS.

the 8 or ... on the LED is just showing you its the wrong Keycode.

You have to check what KC the game you are try to load needs
& then load say Supermario or something in the default Keycode.
Then go into the Main menu & click Keycodes.

Enter the one that aplies to your game, it will ask if you are sure.

if you are then say yes, & then turn the console off.

put your came cart in the GS & turn back on, game loaded.

A few more questions

1) Does Interact still offer the version updates for these things? (I can't seem to find the website for them, www.interact-acc.com?? )

2a) Can this Gameshark be simply updated via a flash or something ot latest firmware version?

2b) Can anyone here upgrade the one I have to the latest firmware?

2c) Where do I send it and how much would you charge me?

Guess that's it, hehe.
